About Precious "Geelah" Parker

My work explores in how marginalized identities use their supposed “limitation” as a form of liberation. I believe that living within the margin can be a very creative and imaginative space, where one can alchemize the various identities they hold into. I am a Liberian immigrant, a queer women, and artist and so much more, these identities create a lens in which I see the work. I used portraiture and mixed media as a way to explore the many intersection I stand in. My work is constantly evolving and changing, but what stays consistent is the desire to honor the stories of Black Diaspora people.
